Macronutrients are nutrients required in large quantities that provide us with energy which includes carbohydrates, protein, and fat. They are nutritive components of food that the body needs for energy to maintain the body system and structure. Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) is an estimation of how many calories you burn per day when exercise is taken into account and is useful to get you on the path to your fitness goals.

We all had the mindset of working hard in the gym and taking supplements as the only way to lose weight or build muscle. It tends to be embedded in our minds as the rise of social media consumes our lives day by day. Have you been bombarded with ads regarding supplements to lose weight or gain muscle fast? The best part is, once you got the hang of it, you do not even need a calculator as it’s relatively easy to know the numbers once you start. Additionally, I’ve even had clients in their late fifties to count macros so there’s no reason you can’t do it!

“But I’m no good with math”

“I don’t have time”

This has been the most frequent answer I get when I suggest people to count their macros. It is in no way a time-consuming task to do. Tracking your macros and calories for some time will allow you to have a flexible diet without vexing the number constantly. Overtime tracking your macros, you’ll understand macros and calories in food and this will open doors for you to do flexible dieting which tends to be the aftermath of tracking your macros.

Overall, if you are interested in long-term sustainable growth in your fitness journey, tracking macros and calories are always the go-to for everyone and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out your macros with this guide.
